Pinewood Derby Mania

This Fall Ethan joined Cub Scout Pack 533 as a new Tiger cub... and Caleb joined his brother as a Cub Scout in-training (as he likes to put it).  A big highlight early of the year was a great trip to a fire station.

But that was eclipsed by the pure joy of Pinewood Derby month!  We made a man-cave of the garage (you know, because you can't have sawdust in the house), chose our designs, got our tools, and got to work.  Ethan's really proud of his police car / pace car... and Caleb's tank has a turret and a gun that turns 360 degrees!

Cub Scouts is so much fun! I wish I could have been a cub scout when I was little, but sadly, that would have been impossible! Our middle son is in 4th grade now and thinks he is a pro at the Pinewood Derby stuff.

And our baby (at 5 years old) says that she is a "girl" cub scout. She doesn't want to join girl scouts next year, only cub scouts. That might be a problem but for now we just laugh and put the discussion off for another day.

I am glad that you guys enjoyed the process of making derby cars. These are the memories that will last a lifetime!
